Selvedging the end bits...

One of the first craft blogs I ever read was Ric Rac by the lovely Jodie. I was thinking that Ric Rac would be a great name for a blog, but low-and-behold - it already was taken. Well I had to see what she got up to, and I was hooked.

Jodie's a Victorian gal, so I have a soft spot. When I grow up I want to have as many hours in my day as she has! So anyway, after cutting off lots of selvedge and making this bag:

I sent a large bag of selvedge her way, when I realised that a Queen-sized doona cover was a little ambitious for my stash. In doing so, I unknowingly ended up on Team Selvedge, for The Big and Secret Project. Well today Jodie has revealed.

Check this out -

An amazing woman does amazing dress with amazing amount of Selvedge! And good on Ms 17 who wears it with such style and grace. Very A. Hepburn don't you agree?

That is the most beautiful dress I've ever seen. I love your bag too.

Hey what a cool site Ric Rac is! I've quickly added it to my blog-list! I am a big fan of salveging bits and pieces. In fact my kids Granny made them a quilt each and I asked for her odds and ends and am making them into matching bears!!
Your bag is a Cool idea! I'd love to be able to whip things up - but there just aren't enough hours for me in a day to do all the things I'm inspired to do!!!!
Thanks so much too for your generous offer of a donation for Olivia's cow! I wouldn't want to take any cash without an exchange of something - so when I finally get around to doing it, I will be putting a couple of handcrafted goods up for a donation swap on the site - maybe you'd like to choose something like that?? Your generosity is awesome - I am soooooo looking forward to recieving my parcel! (Humming "brown paper packages tied up with string ....")

Doh! I just realized what was meant by "selvedging" not "salvaging" .... it's still early! (8:30am)

Thanks for the link Jess - I could not have finished it without Team selvedge and their generous donations and encouragement.
Jemma loved your A. Hepburn comment - she is a huge fan!!! You made her day.

I agree with Big Cat, it is a great frock! I enjoyed reading your post about your new haircut too - very swish! I'm in awe of your sewing and I love this thing with the selvedge (never heard of that before). I can hardly do a straight hem but I'm determined to learn. How did you go with the album covers? A new wall to post about soon??!
