My long-suffering hubby, Mr BB, patiently puts up with my hoarding. You see, the sewing room is the kitchen, dining room, and mainly our bedroom. This is what he wakes up to daily in our room:
So then he comes downstairs, and wants to have breakfast, but has to fight through this (yes, there IS a ball of yarn next to the fruit bowl...):
I conceded that things were out of control, so agreed to at least try and keep all the fabric out of his way. Enter The Basket. Tardis extraordinare. It is rather large, larger than my coffee table, big enough to hold both kids and a blanket, or a shops-worth of fabric, craft books, patterns and trim. Home of The Stash. It originally came from Ma and Pa, and has been a toy box, a linen press, and has fulfilled other storage requirements, but now comes into its own. Wicker (my favourite), lidded, beautiful.
I have it packed in layers so I know where to find things. To share the stash this week with Mikes, I unpacked only The First Layer (spreading it over the entire surface of my bed, thus causing a raucus with Mr BB!!).
However, there is still so much to share! Look, we barely scratched the surface!
Stash all over the place to see - check out the blogroll of participants at Mikes.

Oo! We like a good tardis-tyoe creation. Well done on hiding ALL that stuff in le basket of enormity.
Wow. I'm impressed with that stash. Wish mine was like that.
this stash week has me feeling like I'm in some sort of AA meeting! be assured my house looks like yours and the same eye rolling takes place from my husband. (who gave up commenting on my 'crap' years ago!)
despite the boxes, your stash is very well organised and gives me something to aspire to.
do you also get the warm and fuzzies when you realise exactly what you need for a project - and it's in your stash!
cheers, Lynda
Ooooh I'm drooling over that stash...
PS I think I forgot to send you an email (please forgive my scatterbrain at the moment). I love love love the beautiful gift that you sent in the mail, such a huge suprise to brighten up my day...thankyou, you are a very special lady indeed!
Oh my - that is very impressive layer from the wicker basket. You have some great stuff there. I love the penguins!
It is amazing how our 'stuff' just spreads itself throughout the house! The basket is great. Important to keep 'them' happy and therefore keep our stash safe!! Thanks for visitiing my blog!
You have me drooling over your stash. My bedroom would look like that too if the dog didn't pee on everything that is sitting on the floor.
