Yarn drooled over, weighed up, considered and snapped up (that actually only took seconds).
Phone-call to Bells to check it was appropriate for the purpose (the shop lady cannot be relied upon - she sold me a circular needle to knit a pair of socks, and overcharged me for a clearly labelled ball of bamboo. Hence the golden rule with knitting and crochet: go to the top if you have any queries!)
Kids shooed away and bribed with a half cubic metre of sand to play in, so I could Cast On. Silk is a slippery little sucker, but at least my knit-along is up and running.
Want to learn lace along with the girls and I? Never too late to start. I aim to have this finished before 2009!

I think a slow jog is a better start than a full 100m dash, or it might end up in a "Dash it all!" and a restart.
Very flattered to be considered a point of reference. Thank you.
Thanks for the heads up on that cute as anything Toadie.
I hope that your lacing goes wonderfully & look forward to tracking its progress.
Meant to say, I really like the lace detail in your chosen pattern.
Oh yes, I do want to lace along. Not this year though. Just can't do it. Hopefully next.
BTW, good on you for thinking and looking in to editing courses. I'm so glad that someone else is putting their creative dreams out there.
looking forward to following this project.
thanks so much for your comment over at thornberry. I'm fairly new to blogging and didn't realise I had a 'wordpress only' button checked. it's removed now so hopefully the comments will flow!
have added you to my blogroll!
When you say 'before 2009'.... you do mean the end of, right?
nice choice. I hope it works for you.
We will have a sock lesson some time. I think you are overly freaked about something that you already have all the skills for. You just need a little support. We'll do a baby sock and you'll see it's just fine.
Wow, just looking at this makes my head hurt. I found knitting a beanie quite challenging. I guess it will be a while before I feel up to tackling lace :P Looking forward to seeing how it all turns out though :)
Good luck with the kit. Try long circs for socks. Magic oop is my favorite method.
