Thrifty goodness - fabric, linens and patterns

I have been very busy of late with various other blogs, reading, commenting, reading, finding Flikr groups, reading, and learning more and more about the land of crafty blogs. So busy that I have neglected to post my attempts at sewing and crafting.

Amidst all that, I have been visiting my favourite local Salvos for respite from a yucky flu and the Canberra Hospital. I know that I need to buy less and I am working on that, but when things speak to me, I HAVE to take them home... Why? What void am I filling?! I can't afford this habit!!

Here are some images of some of the latest haul. You should see what I left behind!!!

Table cloths that had to come with me ($5 for the cherries, $2 for the fab green one)

These are for the caravan...

Vintage print pillowcase...

A very ME tea-towel, 100% Polish linen for 50c.

And a stunning scarf that is about 1m square and adorable!

But wait, there's more!
Embroidered napkins and pillowcase (It's kind of like Mrs Tiggywinkle of Beatrix Potter fame).

Not a thrift, but a gift from the delightful Miss Jen (much missed in cyber land :-)). The pic doesn't do this justice. The red is really rich. They were her Great Aunt's curtains, and will soon be an apron pour moi. I will have to learn to do a ruffle!

Why NOT to use your kids as child models - what a harsh way to show off your crochet (Woman's Day 1972, tucked into the pages of another book)

I'm not about to take up macrame, but the books were impossible to leave behind! The bottom right-hand corner is knitting and crochet Look Alikes for mother and daughter. Very Mother Dearest/Joan Crawford... A fave is below - love the little lassie's hair!

Perfect for an afternoon of Mummy and Me tennis!

I'm amused at least, and all for less than $25!

I just found your blog from the sidebar at meetmeatmikes. I think we like the same stuff!!! I am going to go read some more. I love the macrame from the 70's and just posted something about it last week too! Oh my, I see I'm not going to get anything else done today.
