The change of the seasons

It has been so long since I wrote. I stopped as I wasn't making anything or photographing anything, then became afraid to come back as I might be judged as being boring! Ridiculous really but part of the mental health roller coaster.

I have realised that I need more structure and routine in my weeks. When you are busy and getting a lot done or achieving a lot, you feel satisfied at the end of the day. When you are merely waiting for each day to end it gets very depressing with nothing happening except the banal domesticity that some of us don't live off.

This all changed the other night as I sat watching 'Good News Week'. This is not a show that I am fond of, mainly as I know it is scripted and rehearsed rather than spontaneous, but also as the host irritates me. However I sat watching it and laughed, and laughed, so many times. I realised that I don't do enough laughing. Those brilliant chemicals being released from my brain were smashing through the cobwebs that had formed over the months. It was the best release.

So lesson one for the week is: Remember to laugh. Often.

P.S. a post without a photo is now hereby OK. Don't like it? go to google images and choose your own! ;) xx

A week off

I am imposing on myself a week without my computer. It's high time I rested and readied for the move. I will still try and read bloglines, but will limit myself to 10 minutes a day. I have stopped with the Twitter thing, and with the Facebook thing, so apart from 10 mins a day to check emails and some daily blog-reads, she will be retired. I am hoping that in this time I can find the camera, so I can show you the crafting that has been going on.

With the time saved, I am hoping to walk, visit Floriade, spend some time with Mr BB, play footy with Master 7, ride the bike, go to the National Film and Sound Archive, Floriade, and the new McCubbin exhibition. Oh, and of course move house!!! Canberra really has a lot to offer, when was the last time you visited?

Enjoy your week.

Resignation

So today despite the Global Financial Crisis, the impending Recession and my lack of other options, I nonetheless submitted my resignation. I am going to devote time to getting my life in order and getting healthy again. I have been granted an exemption from the two-weeks-notice-needed clause in my contract, so today is my last day! 3 hours and a bit to go!! Sanity here I come!

Craft as Therapy

It's not a new idea. craft as therapy. As part of my break, I had some anxiety that needed dealing with, as well as insomnia. As a result, plenty of time and plenty of nervous energy! Nothing like crocheting in cotton to keep the brain occupied and the fingers moving. I have one stitch that I can do, no idea what it is, but it's therapeautic. A perfect car craft, and with a bamboo hook, a perfect (discreet) plane craft too.

Churned out a few washcloths, little bags and baskets for kids' games, and an amusing (to me anyway) little interpretation of a favourite Baldesin statue at the National Gallery here...

Still, it keeps me busy and repairs the tired areas of the brain.

A grey day

Just a quick post -

I am distracting myself from various draining medical mysteries in my house.

So many lovely things on-line, wish I had the energy to sew, create, etc.

Reading the magnificent new book by Philippa Gregory keeps me going though!

Lovely things happening in blog land though - I can't possibly comment on everyone's, but I AM thinking of you!

Lovely recipe here
Beautiful art here and here
Funny link here
Good inspiration to crochet here
International recognition here (thanks Cam and Kerry-owl for the heads-up!)

My continual inspiration here:

Have a good weekend!
