Handmade birthday presents for kids

I am putting together a booklet for my craft group on handmade birthday presents for children. These are generally projects adults will make for kids, but may include some ideas for kids to make for their friends and siblings.

In the past, I have made various presents, and have decided to collate some simple projects that anyone can do. I am not claiming any of these as my original ideas, and credits will be attributed. What are your craft ideas for kids' presents? I have a couple more in my head, not yet made, which I hope will make it into this booklet. I may have bitten off more than I can chew....

ooh GREAT list! thank you soooo much for this post! I'm bookmarking it right now.

A couple of things that's gone over well has been to turn their drawings into toys (courtesy of Jen from Red Instead):

Or drawings into applique:

You should put on some of the things we have done eg. button boxes, art bags, mosaic pots, jewellery. Can't wait to see your *book*.

The booklet is such a nice idea! My mind is blank (duh!) and I don't have any brilliant ideas to add, except just to be careful of copyright issues.

So many gorgeous things! I especially love the gorgeous quilt and the knitted and felt vegies.

This is a great book idea! I made nearly all of my Christmas presents last year, and for the kids I mostly printed t-shirts using inkjet transfers and Hoppo Bumpo's freezer-paper technique: http://bellgirl.com.au/2008/12/corporate-free-christmas-t-shirts-for.html

Those are great. I love the dress up stand. I must make one! Collating this is a fantastic idea.

I'm working on crowns right now for the 'you know what'. LOL

Jess, thank you for the tip on the sale wool felt at Spotlight. I've been meaning to get back to you on that. You've been much on my mind. I apologize for being so slow! Thank you!

Hi Gorgeous,
How about playdough - pink scented with rosewater, white with coconut essence, etc.
