Snifflies that work for the Earth

Silly post title, I know, but the kids and I have decided tissues are a waste of trees, as we ploughed through the last box. Instead of buying more, to cope with the inevitable Winter runny noses, we made a lid for the empty box using a painting of Miss 2's, and filled it with "nice soft hankies - like Granny's" (in the words of Master 6).

Easy.

Much more comforting, softer on the nose, and a great use of my vintage hankie collection!!

We borrowed the idea from somewhere - maybe Consumption Rebellion? Thanks!!

I love that - I want a vintage hankie collection too! Thanks for your comment on Divas. No, I totally don't ever follow patterns!! I have a love-hate relationship with my sewing machine, but like to give things a go regardless - and add individual flair!

Ahhh.. when I have a cold, I far prefer a hankie! I only use tissues when I'm out and about (or at work), so they can be thrown out as to not gross anyone out (I don't usually have a pocket to put a hanky in and in Japan, hankies are NOT for blowing noses, they are to clean your hands.

oh yay! Now I won't be the only one with no tissues in the house.

That's a great idea decorating the box. :)
