Vintage hankies to add to the collection

Master 6 loves his Granny. Lots of reasons why, but one is that she always has A Nice, Soft Hanky.

Now I think that vintage hankies are very soft, and if I try really hard NOT to think about them, and just soak them in Napisan and wash them lots, then I will have something soft for his little nose too!

I have More Than I Will Ever Use, but recently couldn't pass these up for the 25c each price tag.

Ironing is optional, and scanning is always good for me when the camera crashes!

Minnie is my fave - her shoes are gorgeous, and I like to think she is singing into that wooden spoon!

Vintage Australiana - Skippy!

This may just be the scariest Little Golden Book I have ever read. Master 6 still won't look at it, and I don't blame him!

Tk, tk, tk - what's that Skip?

Yes, it is pretty bleak even for 1974!

Check out Mikes for more Skippy Australiana from Gemma!

Snowing in your Nation's Capital!

Ok - I did not take this photo, and it's not from this week, but driving to a friend's house I saw SNOW on the mountains that surround Canberra. It HAD been minus two overnight, so there should have been no surprise, but it's Autumn!

I must begin my Pi-shawl blanky before things get dire! Check out how Bells' is going (she's onto her second!)

Anyway, camera back in action, so there should be an update kinda soon with all the recent loveliness.

Vintage Australiana

In my family, there has always been room for rhyming slang. Australians have their own style - rather dry and bordering on offensive at times I guess, but all intended lovingly!

This extract is from a Book called "Aussie English - an explanation of the australian idiom" by John O'Grady, published in 1965.

To me this is Australiana - the language is great!!
